Morris ROBERTS and Letitia "Letty" MARTIN were married about 1758 in St Ann's Parish, Albemarle, VA.96 Unable to find any marriage documents or records, except his will. I have visited the Albemarle Court House and have personally gone through their file of marriage bonds and found Richard Roberts and Elizabeth Gillum - also found a documented record of Jeremiah - but nothing for Morris Roberts. Letitia "Letty" MARTIN, daughter of Thomas MARTIN and Ann MOORMAN, was born in 1743 in , Albemarle, VA. Birth date of 1743/44 is repeatedly given in various genealogies, but I have no verification. However, I think it is probable that she was born about this time based on her parents marriage and her evident marriage to Morris Roberts. However, I'm suggesting that it was slightly later - based on what appears to be her first pregnancy and her age - and generally the lower limits to ages for brides during this period and in this place. She died before 1786 at the age of 43 in Albemarle Co, VA.97 98 She has reference number 528. Letitia Martin was known as Letty. |
