1. Morris ROBERTS was born in 1732 in Virginia.1 He owned Rich Cove land from Capt. Chas Lewis to John Lyon on 14 May 1750 in Albemarle Co, VA.2 He owned Rich Cove land - Peter Lyon Sr to Elishah Lyon on 9 November 1751 in Albemarle Co, VA.3 Morris served in the military as a ranger in the Company of Capt Jos. Fox in 1756 in , Louisa, VA.4,5 He served in the military but was listed as a deserter from the Virginia Regiment on 2 September 1757 in , Louisa, VA.6 He signed a will on 24 October 1759 in St Ann's Parish, Albemarle, VA.7 In the name of God, Amen. I, Morris Roberts, of the parish of St. Ann's in the County of Albemarle, being in perfect sences blessed by God ?? do this day the twenty-fourth of October in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and fifty-nine make & publish this my Last Will & Testament in manner following that is to say I desire that my debts may be first paid by my Executors first I Give to my Loving wife Letty Roberts that part of her Estate that Came by her Father Thomas Martin & if my wife should die without heir I give that part of her Estate to her sister Milly Martin that came by her Father Likewise I give to my wife Letty Roberts My horse Bridle, and sadle & all my Stock of Cattle Likeways I give to my wife Letty Roberts the Crop that is in her father's hands & I give to my Wife Letty Roberts my plantation & two hundred & thirty six Acres of Land Joining John Lyon in the Rich Cove During her life likeways I Give my wife Letty Roberts all my household goods and Cloaths I give to my Child that my wife is with Child at this time all my whole tract of Land after my wifes decease & one Negro Fellow named Bob & if my Child should die without heir I give the Childs part of my estate to my Brother Henry Roberts Excepting the use of the Negro Fellow three years which I give to my wife but if my wife & Child should die without heir my desire is that my Brother Henry Roberts Shall have that part of my Estate that Came by me I give my Gun to Charles Martin I do appoint my father in law Thomas Martin with my wife Letty Roberts my executors or Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. his Signed in the presents of us Morris M Roberts (LS) Abrm Heard Thomas Heard mark Chas Martin At a court held for Albemarle County the fourteenth day of February 1760 This Will was presented by Thomas Martin and Letty Roberts the executors therein Named proved by the Oaths of Abraham Heard Thomas Heard & Charles Martin the Witnesses thereto & Ordered to be recorded & on the motion of the Executors who made Oath according to Law Certificate is Granted them for Obtaining a probate thereof in due Form giving security on which they with John Lewis their security entered into & acknowledged their Bond for the due and faithful performance of the said will. Test John Nicholas, Clk Morris died about 1760 at the age of 28 in St. Ann's Parish, Albemarle, VA.8 He had his estate probated on 14 February 1760 in , Albemarle, VA.9 At a court held for Albemarle County the fourteenth day of February 1760. This will was presented by Thomas Martin and Letty Roberts the executors named therein proved by the Oaths of Abraham Head, Thomas Head, and Charles Martin the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the Executors who made oath according to Law Certificate is Granted them for Obtaining a Probate thereof in due time giving security on which they with John Lewis their security entered into and acknowledged their Bond for the due and faithful performance of the said will. Morris ROBERTS and Letitia "Letty" MARTIN were married about 1757 in St Ann's Parish, Albemarle, VA.14 Letitia "Letty" MARTIN, daughter of Thomas MARTIN and Ann MOORMAN, was born in 1744 in , Albemarle, VA. Birth date of 1743/44 is repeatedly given in various genealogies, but I have no verification. However, I think it is probable that she was born about this time based on her parents marriage and her evident marriage to Morris Roberts.
